Following the resurgence of kidnapping activities in the Akoko/Owo axis of Ondo State, fear, anxiety and tension have taken over the hearts of residents of the area as they are apprehensive of what could happen next.
Only on Friday, kidnappers struck between Akunnu in Akoko Northeast area of the State and Ayere in Kogi State killing the driver of an 18-passenger bus and abducted all the passengers.
This has now created fears in the minds of residents of the area, particularly the farmers, as they could no longer go to their farms while indigenes of communities in the area living outside the state could no longer visit home.
The Hope Metro gathered that farmers, particularly Ajowa, Ikakumo, Akunnu and Auga are full of fears and as such have abandoned their farms for the fear of falling prey to the kidnappers.
According findings, the criminal elements move about with sophisticated weapons in their operations.
Meanwhile, the kidnapping incident has further added to the high cost of food items in the area for the fact that market women could no longer convey them to the markets with ease and peace of mind as many of them have chosen not to go to urban markets for fear of being kidnapped.
