Kidnapping: Monarch cries out
The spate of kidnappings in Uso, Owo Local Government area of Ondo State, has been described as fearful and dreadful by the inhabitants of the town.
This assertion was arrived at following the kidnapping of about eight people on the Asolo camp road during the week.
The Oloba of Uso, Oba Engr. Ademola Adebiyi Oyinbade, Olanipekun III, said it was becoming highly ridiculous that on daily basis, kidnap incidents have taken over the town.
He said farmers were no longer safe going to their farm because of the activities of these men of the underworld operating in Uso these days, saying that in the last one week about 8 individuals have been kidnapped.
He noted with dismay that apart from the monetary ransom these kidnappers are collecting from the victims, they asked for packets of tramadol tablets, carton of milk, crates of malt drink, beverages and other materials.
One of the victims said that the kidnappers informed them that they were sourcing for money to replace their guns that were ceased from them by the security agents in the recent raids.
The monarch appealed to the state government to deploy security agents to Uso in order to smoke out these men from operating in Uso and its environment.
Investigation revealed that some of the herders are residents of Sabo area in Uso and the Hausa settlement in Ayede-Ogbese, a nearby community to Uso.
