Kilani advocates social security scheme for elderly

A centenarian, Alhaji Kilani Balogun has advocated for a social security scheme for the elderly in Nigeria.

Alhaji Balogun advocated this while speaking with The Hope in his country home, Afin Akoko, Akoko Northwest Local Government area of Ondo State.

The 106 years old said old people, especially those who have no grace of getting pension from the government also deserved care from the government since they too have in one way or the other contributed to the development of the country.

The centenarian who is the oldest living person in Afin and environs called for a sustainable policy on the part of governments at all levels in the country to cater for the welfare of the elderly, widows, orphans and other vulnerable children in Nigeria.

Similarly, Alhaji Balogun has also called for a compulsory primary education for all children in the country.

He advised parents to send their children to schools while at the same time calling for a legislation that will forbid parents from letting their children not to have access for at least a primary education.

According to him, his lack of education prevented him from holding political office in the country even when he took part in active politics saying his contemporaries who were educated e given political posts.
