KSA, Obey’s styles inspire me — Taye Turaya

A renowned and fast rising Erin Ijesa born fuji musician, Mr Solomon Taiwo Ebenezer, popularly known as “Taye Turaya” has revealed, that King Sunny Ade and Ebenezer Obey’s styles of songs inspired him into singing at early age.

The Akure based musician hinted, that the energetic stage performance of the Nigeria’s Fuji Maestro, Chief Sunday Adegeye, aka King Sunny Ade got him attracted into singing right from when he was in primary school.

Speaking with Weekend Extravaganza from the United States America, where he is currently on musical tour, he described both songs of the legends as inspirational and full of ideas.

“Taye Turaya”, who is a graduate of Business Administration from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo and Management Studies from Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko, said he started his music carrier since 1995.

According to him, “I had my music inspiration since when I was in primary school and my mentor include King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer Obey, Segun Adagunodo (Santana) and Yinka Joel Ayefele, saying they are good leaders one can emulate, adding that he is still loyal to them.

“The electrifying stage display and amazing dance steps of King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and others are not only inspiring, but mesmerizing enough to lure me into the entertainment industry.”

On his way to stardom, the dark skinned singer noted that he faced numerous challenges that threatened his career,  but survived them through commitment and prayers.

He commended Nigerian artistes whom he said are performing excellently both at home and in Diaspora, saying their feats have contributed immensely to the growth of the music industry.

Speaking on the impact of internet with their musical business, he described it as very enjoyable, saying it brings more light into the music industry and helps to project them to their numerous fans throughout the globe.

Speaking on how far he has gone with his music career, the multiple award winning musician revealed, that he had performed in so many countries both at home and in Diaspora.

“I have performed in all the 36 states across the nation, I have performed in America, London, Cotonou, Togo, Ghana, Ivory Coast and many others and this year 2024, I am taking my music carrier to Canada, because I want to be globally known as an international musician.

Asked what message he passes across to his fans, he said; “I preach love, tolerance, peace and unity through my music. ” It’s only when we’re united as a people that we can attain greatness as a nation which will engender development.
