Worried by the insinuation that the Knights of St John International (KSJI) is a secret society, the Catholic Society has taken tough measures to purge its membership of such allegation.
The society on Saturday in Ondo, dragged its top echoleons before the Blessed Sacrament to vow not being members of any organization banned by the Catholic Church.
The solemn ceremony led by the Grand President, Sir Chukx Amangbo and supervised by the Catholic Bishop of Ondo Diocese, Dr. Jude Arogundade saw each top member of the order take his or her oath at the Blessed Sacrament.
Amangbo flanked by the Grand respected, Sister Justina Nwankwo said the order took the measure due to wrong labeling of the organization because of wrong information.
The Grand President who also spoke at the Grand Board meeting of the organization held at St John Bosco Church, Ondo said the order has also outlawed its initiation ceremonies at Night.
In his goodwill message to the Knights, Bishop Arogundade praised the members for their courage and defence of the church’s faith at all times and pleaded with them not to relent despite insecurity in the polity .
No fewer than 300 men and women stormed Ondo town for the Board meeting during which new members were initiated into the society founded on May 6, 1886.
