Kwara police arraign Islamic cleric, 4 others over student’s murder

The Kwara State Police Command has arraigned a 29-year-old cleric, Abdulrahman Muhammed Bello, before an Ilorin magistrate’s court for allegedly murdering Hassan Lawal, a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education.
Bello was charged alongside four accomplices with criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, armed robbery, and possession of human parts.
The accomplices include 41-year-old Islamic scholar Ahmed Abulwasiu from Adualere, Ilorin; 28-year-old businessperson Sulaiman Muhydeen from Amilegbe, Ilorin; 29-year-old phone repairer Jamiu Uthman from Adualere, Ilorin; and 31-year-old farmer AbdulRahman Jamiu from Elemere, Malete.
According to the police’s First Information Report (FIR), the suspects are members of the same cult group and confessed to robbing and killing the victim for ritual purposes.
