Labourer remanded for stealing motorcycle

An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 19-year-old labourer, Oluwaseun Akindibinu for stealing a motorcycle.

Operatives of the Nigeria Security Network, Amotekun Corps charged the defendant for conspiracy, stealing motorcycle valued N275,000.

The defendant allegedly committed the offence on February 13, 2023 around 10:00pm at Okedo, ldanre, Ondo State.

The prosecutor, Segun Akeredolu informed the court that the defendant stole a TVS Motorcycle valued N275,000 property of Adeyemi Akinnawonu.

He said the defendant also broke into the house of Jejelowo and therefore committed a felonious offence by stealing.

The offence committed is contrary to Sections 383, 410 and punishable under Sections 390(9), 411 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Volume. 1, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant who was charged for conspiracy and stealing pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against him.

The prosecutor, therefore prayed the court to remand the defendant at the Correctional centre.

The defence counsel, O.J ljoebi prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, promising that the defendant would provide credible and reliable sureties.

In his ruling, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum and, adjourned the case till June 28, 2023 for hearing.
