Barely a week after a suspected ritualist tied his ex-lover’s hands, legs and ripped her stomach with intestines removed in Akure, another suspected ritualists who disguised as labourers have allegedly hacked a 45 -year-old Pastor, Dada Itopa to death at Ebira camp, Ipele, in Owo local government area of Ondo State.
The Hope Metro gathered that one of the suspects already apprehended by the police, one Musa, confessed that they carried out the attack on the pastor because they needed to deliver a human head to an herbalist who requested for it in Ipele town for ritual purpose.
The Hope Metro also gathered that the suspects, Mohammed Musa and Omatai also macheted the pastor’s wife, Bose Dada at the scene but was rescued.
It was gathered that on August7, 2023, the pastor and his wife Dada Bose lured the two suspects as labourers, Muhammad Musa and Omatai and took them to their farm to weed the farmland and a sum of N11,000 was agreed upon as workmanship.
According to police sources, in the process, Omatai requested for a cutlass from the pastor, Dada Itopa under the pretence that he wanted to use it to work on the farm but turned and hacked Dada to death.
The victim’s wife was said to have raised an alarm and cried for help. The suspects were also said to have turned to her and also macheted her on the head as she sustained serious injury.
The victim is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed the hospital.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said one of the suspected ritualists, Mohammed Musa had been arrested in connection with the attack while his co-suspect, Omatai was still on the run.
According to the PPRO, the suspects followed the deceased Pastor to Ipele farm as labourers but in the process, one of the suspects, Omatai requested for a cutlass from Pastor Dada under the pretence that he wanted to use it to work on the farm but used same to hack him to death.
The suspect, Musa, confessed that they carried out the attack because they needed to deliver a human head to an herbalist who requested for it in Ipele town for ritual.
The Police spokesperson said effort was ongoing to arrest the herbalist who ordered for the human head and the second suspect.
