It was not a good outing for Ondo state under age Basketball team, as they finished fifth out of the six Southwest states that participated in the maiden edition of Rising Stars U-16 Basketball championship held in Akure, the state capital.
Team Lagos crowned champions of the one week Rising Stars U16 Basketball Championship which took place at the Indoor Hall of Ondo state sports complex.
The U16 Basketball Championship was aimed at catch them young and to also re- awake the interest of the game at the grassroots.
The games witnessed six South Western states of Lagos, Ekiti, Osun, Ogun, Oyo and host Ondo represented with each team playing 6 games each.
Team Lagos defeated Oyo 73-70, and gannered 12points to end the championship undefeated with a total of 362 game points for and 191 against leaving them with a point difference of 171.
Team Oyo whose only lost in the tournament was against Lagos finished second with 9 points.
They had total of 280 games points for and 206 against while team Osun with 10 points finished third although they had a negative point difference (-39) having recorded 275 game points as against their conceded 314 points.
Team Ogun finished fourth while host State, Ondo finished fifth with just a point and without a win in the tournament while team Ekiti finished at the bottom.
