A 40-year-old farmer, Oluwasegun Akinnifesi, has been dragged before an Ondo Chief Magistrate’s Court for pouring faeces on the head and body of one Joseph Akindele.
The police arraigned the defendant before the court on a two- count charge of breach of peace.
Akinnifesi was said to have forcefully chased out one Bukola Akindele and her husband, Joseph Akindele from her father’s house which she claimed is her inheritance.
The police prosecutor, Mrs Iyabo Omolara said the defendant committed the offence on February 7, 2022, at about 08:30 am at No. 6 Road 12, Funbi Fagun crescent, Ondo in the Ondo Magisterial District.
”The charge read, That you, Oluwasegun Akinnifesi, on same date, time and place in the aforementioned magisterial district did conduct yourself in the manner likely to cause the breach of peace by forcefully chasing out one Bukola Akindele and her husband, Joseph Akindele from her father’s house.
He committed an offence contrary to and punishment under section 249(d) of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol. 1 Laws of Nigeria, 2006.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
Omolara told the court that three witnesses would testify in the case.
Defence counsel, Mr Anthony Olagundoye, applied for the bail of the defendant in most liberal terms.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Toyin Olowookere granted the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with one credible surety in like sum.
Olowookere adjourned the case till August 16, 2022, for hearing.
