Lassa Fever: Why we visit Ondo – Delegation

Due to the increasing number of reported cases of Lassa Fever in Ondo State, the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, has paid a sensitization visit on the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye-III in his palace.
The NCDC an agency under the Federal Ministry of Health, was led on the visit by Dr Yaya Disu, in company of the State Disease Surveillance Officer from the State Ministry of Health,Mr Gboyega Famokun,the Deputy Primary Health Coordinator, Mrs Moyo Alakanye and the Owo LG Health Education Officer, Mrs Oriyomi on the entourage to the palace.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Disu informed the monarch that the delegation was in Ondo State and particularly, the Federal Medical Centre,Owo to access the situation with a view to complement the efforts of the state government which has been doing a lot with the aim of reducing the spread of the deadly disease in the society.
Dr Disu who reiterated the commitment of the federal government to ameliorate the challenges posed by the disease also, enumerated several preventive measures that will be beneficial to the people if followed accordingly.
In his response, Oba Ogunoye thanked the delegation for the visit which he described as timely.
The monarch promised that no stone will be left unturned in supporting the government, individuals and groups in the fight against the rising scourge.
