LCDAs: Committee holds public hearing in Okitipupa

Towards the speedy  realisation of the mandate given to the Committee on Local Council Development Areas  creation by the  Ondo State Government,  the committee on Wednesday held a public  hearing in Okitipupa, headquarters of Okitipupa Local Government for  deliberation on the  submitted memorandum.

The meeting  which  was  held in  Okitipupa local government secretariat witnessed a large  turnout of different  stakeholders  which  included traditional rulers, community heads representatives and youths across the four local governments of Irele,  Ese Odo, Okitipupa  and Ilaje.

In his remarks,  the Chairman of the  committee , Mr. Lanke  Odogiyan  thanked all the  participants for gracing the occasion despite the short notice.

Odogiyan said that the idea of the LCDAs  as conceived by the Governor,  Arakunrin  Rotimi  Akeredolu (SAN)  is to ensure rapid development in the State and  bring governance closer to the people at the grassroots.

Also,  the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government,  Mrs. Morenike Alaka  commended the idea of  breaking the local government into units which  she said will  bring development and opportunities to the people at the grassroots .

In her words ” kudos must be given to  Mr. Governor for this noble idea,  it will  make the people very close to the government and government will equally be close to the people for developmental,  better and rapid projects .

Alaka described those in the opposition who are criticising  the policies of the government as not been  sincere and objective.

She described the governor as a  man of integrity and honour who has come to work for the good people of the state by leaving the state better than he met it.
