The Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Hon. Babatunde Oke, stated this during a press conference held at the parliamentary building in Ado-Ekiti to mark the second anniversary of the Seventh Assembly.
Oke noted that under the leadership of Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, the Assembly has passed 24 bills into law, reflecting its dedication to Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision for the state’s development under the shared prosperity agenda.
He emphasised that the Assembly has executed its legislative duties independently and without undue interference from the executive arm.
The laws enacted by the Assembly include: Quality of Care Law (2025), Ekiti State Water Resources, Sanitation and Hygiene Sector Law (2025), Ekiti State Local Content (Second Amendment) Law (2025), Ekiti State Public Senior Secondary School Board Law (2025), and Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission Loans Board (First Amendment) Law (2025).

Also, re-enactment of the Legislative House Powers and Privileges Law (2024),Ekiti State Assets Management Law (2024) among others
Oke further disclosed that the House has passed 63 critical resolutions and meticulously maintained its records of plenary proceedings to ensure no bill or resolution is abandoned.
Additional initiatives aimed at enhancing legislative effectiveness include capacity-building programmes for lawmakers, staff training, establishment of new departments, upgrades of existing units to departmental status, creation of a staff loans board, and the approval of the Consolidated Legislative Salary Structure (CONLESS).
“Upon inauguration two years ago, the Seventh Assembly was fully aware of its responsibility to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti State.
In his inaugural address, the Speaker, Rt. Hon.Aribasoye, pledged that the legislature would work collaboratively with Governor Biodun Oyebanji to advance the state’s development through the six-pillar agenda for shared prosperity,” Oke said.
“To guide our work, the House developed and adopted a Legislative Agenda that reflects the core principles underpinning our four-year term.
This agenda was publicly unveiled during a Special Plenary commemorating our first anniversary on June 6, 2024. It is worth noting that this is only the second time in the history of the Ekiti State House of Assembly that a Legislative Agenda has been adopted the first being under the Sixth Assembly.”
“From June 2023 to date, the Seventh Assembly has consistently provided robust legislative support for good governance by swiftly passing bills and adopting resolutions.
“We embraced an inclusive approach to lawmaking by engaging stakeholders and inviting public input through memoranda and public hearings. Importantly, the Assembly has functioned independently and without executive interference over the past 24 months.
“Out of the 24 bills passed, all have received the governor’s assent, with a few scheduled for signing during the upcoming Special Plenary on Wednesday.” he concluded
