Let there be peace in Owo

The Owo is One Movement is saddened by reports of acts of violence and thuggery emanating from Owo. The movement re-calls that less than a month ago (2nd February 2019) it brokered the signing of a peace accord by the candidates of all the contending political parties in Owo and Ose Local Governments at the “Candidates Meet The People Forum” of the Owo General Assembly where they all committed to maintain peace before, during and after the coming elections, just as was done at the national level in Abuja.

The Movement therefore calls on all well-meaning people especially the party leadership at the state and local government levels to rein-in their supporters.

It further calls on the commissioner of police to be vigilant  and deal effectively and decisively with perpetrators of  any criminal act before , during and after the elections so that Owo is not again turned to a theatre of  war..

The signatories to the peace accord are  honour -bound by their undertaking to conduct their affairs peacefully to ensure a free and fair election.

Owo has had more than its fair share of violence, loss of lives and property at the instigation of selfish politicians in the past. Enough is Enough.

Let there be peace in Owo.

From:

Chief Akin Aruwajoye (Ogbeni Oja of Owo)

National Coordinator Owo is One Movement.
