LG boss inspects Army base site to strengthen security in Akoko North East

By Adeboye Ado

In a bid to fortify security in Ondo State, the Chairman of Akoko North East Local Government, Mohammed Mutiu Olawale, has inspected the site earmarked for the Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Auga Akoko.

Olawale, accompanied by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties and Union Matters, Bola Taiwo, and Brigadier General Ifeanyi, led a high-powered delegation to the site.

Their visit underscored the urgent need to curb insecurity in the region.

The planned military base is expected to serve as a critical operational hub, enabling security forces to combat rising threats, including kidnappings and herdsmen attacks.

The facility will provide logistical support to troops, ensuring swift responses to security challenges.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s approval of the project has been met with widespread commendation, with residents hailing his proactive stance on security and development.

A resident, Arowolo Bosede, lauded the governor’s intervention, saying, “We appreciate Governor Aiyedatiwa and the Nigerian Army for prioritising our safety. This is a major relief for our community.”

With the establishment of the FOB, expectations are high that the region will witness a decline in criminal activities, paving the way for economic and social stability.
