The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive materials to the 18 local government areas in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for January 18, 2025.
Among the non-sensitive materials distributed are ballot boxes and other essential items, according to a statement issued by the Press Officer of ODIEC, Mrs Bisi Lawani.
In the statement, the Chairman of the commission, Dr Joseph Aremo, revealed that the electoral body has successfully recruited and trained ad-hoc staff for the election day duties.
He also disclosed that the commission had engaged with key stakeholders critical to the success of the elections.
Dr Aremo noted that all non-sensitive materials required for the elections have been delivered to ODIEC offices across the 18 local government areas.
He further assured that the commission is collaborating with security agencies to safeguard election materials.
He reiterated the commission’s commitment to conducting free, fair, credible, transparent, peaceful, and inclusive elections.
He urged the electorate to turn out in large numbers on election day to exercise their franchise and contribute to the democratic process.
