LG Polls: Osun police warn parties against election violence

By Michael Ofulue, Osogbo
The Osun State Police Command has cautioned political parties in the state against engaging in violence during the forthcoming local government election.
Speaking at a two-day workshop organised by the Osun State chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) in Osogbo, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Yemisi Olawoyin Opalola, urged party leaders to promote peace among their supporters.
She warned that the police would not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone attempting to disrupt public order before, during, or after the election.
Opalola also encouraged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers and exercise their franchise by voting for candidates of their choice.
She reassured residents that security agencies had implemented adequate measures to ensure a peaceful electoral process while urging the electorate to steer clear of any form of trouble or violence.
Among the dignitaries present at the workshop were the representative of the Commissioner of Police, CSP Adebisi Musibau, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, and other key stakeholders.
