LGSC boss tasks promoted workers on loyalty

The chairman of Ondo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Hon Femi Idris has charged the 1,029 officers promoted from grade level 06-07 into the Unified Local Government Service of the state to continue with their loyalty, support and commitment, especially in the task of building a virile local government in the state.
Idris stated this while declaring open a three-day induction course for the officers which was held at Akure South local government secretarial during the week.
The chairman said the induction is for the promoted officers across the 18 Local Governments, the Local Government Service Commission, Staff Loans Board and the Local Government Pension Transitional Department.
Idris said that the event was a collective quest to reposition the local government services for effective and efficient service delivery in line with the philosophy of the present administration, adding that such event was held last in the local government service in year 2010.
He appreciated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) for his support at making sure that the local government service is well positioned to deliver qualitative service to the entire populace of the state.
According to him, it is heartwarming to note that the governor has made the welfare of the staff a top priority through prompt payment of salaries and promotion of staff.
He further added that the governor has given approval for commencement of processes leading to the 2018 promotion exercise.
The chairman noted that the effort of Mr Governor will go a long way in restoring the local government service to the path of sanity and efficiency.
He said that landmark achievements have been recorded by the commission in the area of discipline, transparency and accountability within the short period of the present administration.
Idris noted that success recorded so far in this regard is as a result of synergy between the political leadership and the bureaucratic arm, hoping that the synergy will be sustained.
Idris also appealed to them not to be lured into temptation that can bring negative influence in the discharge of their duties, saying that in order for them to function effectively in their new positions, they need integrity, intelligence and energy to serve.
Idris thanked the entire local government workers and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) for the good harmonious working relationship that exists between them and the commission since his assumption of office, saying that commission will continue to leverage on this relationship.
Earlier, Caretaker Chairman, Akure South Local Government, Princess Margaret Atere said that the induction course is a good thing that has come at the right time.
She advised the participants to be regular, attentive in order to be equipped so as to discharge their duties effectively.
The Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Local Government Service Commission, Barr. Ade Akinbosade congratulated the participants and thanked Mr Governor who make funds available for the exercise to be conducted.
Akinbosade also thanked the chairman of the commission for approving the training exercise across the state.
One of the participants, Mrs Clara Popoola appreciated the state government for considering them.
