LGSC Staff Training School matriculates 175

Ondo State Local Government Staff Training School, Ita-Ogbolu, has matriculated 175 students for the 2019/2020 academic session.
The 27th edition of the matriculation was held at the school premises in Ita-Ogbolu.
The Chairman of Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Mr Femi Idris, who was the visitor to the school, during the matriculation of Advance Certificate ,Diploma and Higher Diploma, admonished the newly admitted students to know why they are in the school.
Idris said, “your purpose of coming here is to acquaint yourselves with your schedule of duty and to acquire additional certificate that will aid your career in future, so ensure you take it serious by concentrating on your studies.”
“In the morning read your books, ditto afternoon and night, ensure you read too. With this, sky will be the starting point for you all.”
The Director of Studies of the School, Mr Solomon Ariyeloye thanked God for the vision to raise the bar of the school from low ebb to higher status, saying this was achievable through prayer, hard work and cooperation from the school management.
Ariyeloye explained that the School has now been affiliated to the Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, with an opportunity for one year Higher National Diploma course after completion of Higher Diploma II.
This he said will afford the students the opportunity to be mobilized for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) for those below 30 years.
According to him, “I appeal to the Ondo State House of Assembly to speedily forward and enact a law for the establishment of the school, because it requires a law to back its certificate and operation.”
Professor Oluropo Adeyemo from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, who delivered the matriculation lecture on the role of manpower training and retraining as a tool for development in the local government said, there is no nation that can develop without local government.
He therefore canvassed for the aggressive development at the local government level through training and retraining of their personnel.
Some of the newly matriculated students that spoke to newsmen, expressed their joy for the opportunity given to them to acquire more knowledge on their job.
They said the school will improve their efficiency in their different offices.
The highlight of the event was the commissioning and handing over of new office complex.
