In his address, the Chairman of the state Local Government Service Commission, (LGSC), Mr Femi Idris noted that the theme of the workshop is apt and timely, saying harmony was key in any administration.
The chairman represented by the Commissioner in charge of Training, Manpower and Development in the commission, Mr Ife Iji commended the governor Akeredolu-led administration in the state for prompt release of funds for various trainings for the workers.
While pointing out that training is very important in promoting quality service delivery, he stated that “the more trained you are, the better you become on the job”.
Idris however noted that local government as an arm of government was created by law to take governance closer to the people at the grassroots, hence the need to promote harmonious industrial relationships in its administration.
He noted that the topic of discourse cannot be over-emphasised in ensuring peaceful co-existence among the workforce, the government and the communities.
He therefore urged the participants to pay adequate attention to the details of the papers to be delivered to boost their knowledge and work towards a crises free local government administration.
Speaking with The Hope, the state NULGE President, Comrade Bola Taiwo lauded the Akeredolu government in the state for its various developmental projects and especially for giving workers’ welfare a priority.
