Local hunters ‘ll end insecurity -LG boss

The Chairman of Irele Local Government area of Ondo State, Mr. Olusegun Ajimotoki, has said that the proposed community security network across the 18 councils in the state would complement the existing security institutions saddled with the responsibility of protecting lives and property in the state.
The council chairman disclosed this during a programme on Orange FM in Akure, the state capital.
He explained that farmers and hunters, who use local weapons and African science for hunting would be recruited to tackle insecurity in the state.
“Looking across the country most of the people who are vigilantes are farmers and hunters who use their local weapons and charms for hunting
“We are going to use them to tackle criminality” he affirmed
Ajimotoki said that local security network would complement effort of security institution in the country.
All the council chairmen in the state, he explained were making frantic efforts in collaborating with the state government to put in place home grown security network in each council for security of lives and property.
The council boss also added that local vigilante would be recruited to form the community security network across all the local governments.
In the recruitment, he disclosed that people with physical and mental fitness with age and education consideration would be recruited
“It will be wrong to say that the police and all other security agencies are not doing well .They are doing well but without local security network to complement their efforts there won’t be good result” he said
He said the local understanding of security network of local government is needed to serve as informant to police and other security agencies
