By Michael Ofulue

As business and commercial activities begin after the celebration ofChristmas and New Year, customers have besieged various banks in Akure, the Ondo State capital to carry out business transactions.

The Hope Metro who monitored the situation in Akure yesterday saw scores of people in various Automated Teller Machines ATM. Cubicles, trying to withdraw money while some went inside the bank to carry out transactions.

Some of the customers were seen on queues at various ATM machines as they complained of poor network services affecting the withdrawal of money for their personal use or business transactions.
One of the banks’ customers at Alagbaka area in Akure who claimed she was coming from one of the banks in the area, told our correspondent that some ATM machines were not dispensing money, adding that she was forced to enter into the banking hall before she could carry out her transaction.

She explained that the large crowd being witnessed at banks was due to long Christmas and New Year holiday. As many people are in the bank to withdraw or pay in school fees.
While blaming the crowd witnessed in some ATM machines on inability of some ATMs to function, she hinted that January 4 is the first working day after yuletide celebration.
However, various Points of Sales (POS) in the state were yet to resume, a situation that has increased the long queue witnessed in banks.
