In continuation of its enforcement exercise, the legal unit of the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service, ODIRS, has sealed off five business premises in Akure, the State capital over nonpayment of Land Use Charge, LUC.

The exercise was carried out in Oba-Ile, Ado road and Oda.

Head of the Enforcement Unit and Assistant Director, State Counsel, ODIRS,  Gregory Afuwape, noted that no property owner in the state would be spared from the payment of the Land Use Charge and other government approved taxes stressing that failure to pay would cause the state retrogression.

“The government of Ondo State since the inception of the present administration has ensured that it leaves no stone unturned in infrastructural development and other necessities that would make life better for the people of the state.

“This is why payment of tax is not negotiable for all business and property owners in the state. We are acting in accordance with the court judgement issued on August 8, 2022 to seal off the properties of the defaulters of the Land Use Charge.

“Anyone who unseals the business outlets without the permission of the state government would be acting against the judgment of the court which would attract a penalty of seven years jail term.”

Businesses affected include; Segadot filling station, Oba Ile, with a debt of N200,000, Jofason Nig Ltd, Ado road (N250, 000), Tunabi Oil and gas, Ado road, (N120, 000), Triple G guest house, Oda road,  owing eighty thousand (N80, 000) and Eminent event center, Oda road, (N200,000).
