The  newly inaugurated ninth  House of Assembly  in Ondo State has been urged to promote all-inclusive legislation in the general interest of the people of the  State

Wife of the State Governor, Arabinrin Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu,  made this call in a goodwill message delivered at the inauguration reception of the member representing Akoko South West Constituency 1, Mr Akogun Olugbenga Omole in Akure.

The First Lady who spoke through her media aide, Rowland Onyeukwu, observed that women-oriented bills are left unattended to in some quarters; and where they receive attention, they fail to get the support needed for it to see the light of the day. She blamed o this n low participation of women in most Houses of Assembly.

Mrs Akeredolu however expressed confidence that with persons of proven integrity in the  Assembly, the  State will enjoy policy framework that will promote economic growth, achieve social justice and strengthen governance.

She also called on the members to join forces with the only female lawmaker to protect women ‘s interest.”

Her words, “I love to appeal to the 9th Ondo State House of Assembly to work in collaboration with the only female member in the House in order to achieve women-friendly legislations that will promote women’s health and make cancer a health priority, support policies that will ensure the promotion of women to the higher echelons in the society to serve as role models, to protect women against domestic and all forms of violence and promote women economic viability. This is particularly important towards achieving great developmental strides, owing to the fact that an all-inclusive legislation is key to equitable development.”
