Make people’s needs a priority- Oyetola

By Fisayo Akinduro
Political leaders have been charged to make people’s needs the basis of their policies and implementation.

The Osun State Governor,  Gboyega Oyetola gave the charge while receiving the report of the Thank You Visit Committee in his office on Monday.

The Thank You visit Committee was set up to assess the All Progressives Congress, APC, performance at the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state.

The governor said the committee was set up as part of the concept of inclusiveness of his administration, noting that the people should have a say in how they are governed.

He added that the people of the state should be given the avenue to express their needs and wants.

The Governor appreciated the committee for generating the report through hard work, the idea, which according to him is borne out of the inclusive participatory governance tenet of his administration.

He stressed that it is important for public office holders to always ask their people what they need and responses garnered would then be situated to form part of their own programmes and policies.

Mr. Oyetola stated that some of the demands are already being implemented before the report was submitted.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the “Thank You Tour” Committee, and Secretary of APC, Alhaji Rasak Salinsile on behalf of the Committee appreciated the governor for the opportunity given them to serve the party and state.

He observed that the success story of the visit resulted into the several victories recorded by the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last General Elections.

Mr Richard Tinubu, Hon. Jaiyeoba Alagbada, Bisi Osewumi, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, Alhaji Suleiman Aduremi among others were part of the committee.
