Man, 20, remanded over rape of minor

A 20-year-old, Timileyin Akindoyin, who allegedly molested a 14-year-old girl has been remanded by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court.
The accused person, who was also said to have stolen phones allegedly committed the offences in July 5, 2019 at 1:30 a.m around Fashina area of Ile-Ife.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Abdullahi, the accused person unlawfully and indecently assaulted the girl (names withheld) by having unlawful carnal knowledge of her against her consent.
Abdullahi added that the accused person also entered into the house of one Adeola Adedoyin and took away her Itel handset, one Nokia phone and N1,650 cash, total value at N18,650.
He said the accused person stole one Infinix handset valued at N35,000, belonging to one Mrs Victoria Odeyemi.
The accused person is facing a five-count charge of conspiracy, entering, stealing, assault and rape.
The prosecution said the offences contravened sections 360, 383, 390(9), 412 and 516(A) of the Criminal Law of Osun state, 2002.
The accused person who had no legal representation, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Magistrate, Mr Olukunle Owolawi, ordered the remand of the accused person in Ile-Ife prison, pending the advice from the Director of Pubic Prosecution (DPP).
He adjourned till July 25, 2019.
