Man, 23, docked over theft

A 23-year-old man, Tayo Ereyomi, on Thursday appeared before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court, over alleged theft of a motorcycle worth N700,000.
Ereyomi was charged with two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
Police prosecutor, Abudullateef Suleiman told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offence on November 9, 2023, between 5 am to 6 am at No. 7. Ayeka Igbodigo bypass road in Okitipupa.
Suleiman alleged that the defendant conspired to steal one TVS NEO motorcycle with number plate KTP 081QO, engine number OH2DP1401346 and chasis number MKZB3AIH2PJ051102, valued at N700,000, belonging to one Celestine Omolade.
“The offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006,” the prosecutor said.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his counsel, A Oladiran urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
Chief Magistrate N.T. Aladejana, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N700,000, with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till January 11, 2024, for hearing.
