Man, 25, docked for fraud

A 30 -year old man, Ajibola Ojo has been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for collecting money under false pretence

The police arraigned the defendant before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu on a count charge

According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence sometime in the year, 2015 at Ore, Ondo State

The prosecutor, Inspector James Usifoh told the court that the defendant deceitfully obtained the cash sum of One hundred and thirty thousand naira from one Morayo Adekunle under false pretence for the sales of one plot of land to her

He also alleged that the defendant resold the same land to another person and converted the money to his own.

The offences contravened Sections 419 of the Criminal, Code Cap. 37, Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the count when the charge was read to him.

Usifoh prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and gather his witnesses for trial.

The defence counsel, Mr V. A Akinfe did not oppose the application made by the prosecutor, but prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in most liberal term.

In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case till April 29, 2025 for mention
