Man, 27, in court over theft, felony

For allegedly stealing phones worth N132,000, a 27-year-old man, Gbenga Abioye, has been arraigned before an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing items worth N132,000.

The accused person committed the crime on May 6, 2019 around 1.a.m. at Obelawo area in Osogbo.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Kunle Adeoye, said the accused  conspired with others still at large to steal N80,000, one Tecno handset valued at N42,000 and one headset speaker valued at N10,000, all belonging to Ojo Olotu

The offence contravened sections 516, 383 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap Vol 11 Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The accused person who is facing a two count charge of theft and felony, pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.

The defence counsel, Najite Okobie, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Ajanaku, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.

Ajanaku said the surety must be a blood relation of the accused person and must also provide an affidavit of means.

The case was adjourned till June 16, 2019 for hearing.
