Man, 28, allegedly steals Honda motorcycle

A 28-year old man, Joseph Effiong,has appeared before an Ondo Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing a Honda motorcycle valued at N1,900,000.
The defendant, who resides at Laosho camp via Ondo, was arraigned on two count charges of stealing and conduct likely to breach the peace. But he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The police prosecutor, Bernard Olagbayi, said the incident happened on the April 15,2025 at Laosho camp via Ondo.
According to the charge sheet,
the defendant allegedly stole one red colour Honda motorcycle with number plate KAA 195 VC, valued at N1,900,000 only, property of one Festus Adebayo and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol I Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The defendant was also alleged of conducting himself in a manner likely to breach the peace of one Festus Adebayo, by absconding with his red colour Honda motorcycle which he uses to run his daily business activities without his consent, to Ori-Ekiti via Ado/Otun Ekiti road in Ekiti State and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 249(d) of the Criminal Code.Cap37. Vol1 Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.”
The prosecutor informed the court that three of the prosecution witnesses were in court. He asked for time to study the case file.
The Magistrate, Mrs.Aduroja, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1,000,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She ruled that the sureties must be responsible citizens and reside within the area with evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Ondo State Government.
She adjourned the case till June 5,2025 for hearing.
