The Ondo State Police Command has arraigned a 28-year old man, Victor Ojukwu, before an Akure Magistrate’s Court over allegedly unlawful possession of military uniforms and identification cards.
Ojukwu, whose address was not disclosed, was charged with unlawful possession.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Nelson Akintemehin, the defendant committed the offence on October 15, 2025, around 10:20 a.m. at Afunbiowo Estate, Akure.
Akintemehin told the court that the defendant, who is not a member of the Nigerian Armed Forces, was found in possession of several military accouterments, including Navy ID cards, a military uniform, and a Nigerian Navy regulations book on Honours and Awards.
He was reportedly unable to give a satisfactory account of how he came into possession of the items.
The charge read:“That you, Victor Ojukwu (m), on October 15, 2025, at about 10:20 a.m. at Afunbiowo Estate, Akure, in the jurisdiction of this Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession the following military accouterments: Navy ID cards, a military uniform, and one Nigerian Navy Regulations on Honours and Awards Book, and you were unable to give a satisfactory account of the items.”
The offence contravenes Section 428(d) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37 Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Ojukwu pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate O. Omotosho granted the defendant ₦50,000 bail with two reliable sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned to November 27, 2025, for hearing.
