Man, 30, arraigned for alleged theft

A 30-year-old man, Oyetunji Idowu has appeared before an Owo Chief Magistrate Court for theft.

Oyetunji was brought before the court on a three-count charge of stealing, preventing investigation and perverting the course of justice.

The accused person was said to have stolen aTecno Wx4 handset  valued N30,000 and  deliberately destroyed the two Sims of the phone to prevent the police in its investigation in a case of robbery and kidnapping connected with a suspect who remained unconscious after taking high volume of Tramadol tablets for days before he died recently, thereby preventing the course of justice.

The Police Prosecutor, Sergeant Edu Owolabi, told the court that, the offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 123, 126 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The accused person however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Ruling on the bail application as presented by the defence Counsel, the Presiding Magistrate, Miss Jumoke Aladeniyi granted Oyetunji bail to the tune of N100,000 with one surety with the evidence of current year tax payment.

The case has been adjourned to the 13th  day of  September, 2018 for hearing.
