Man, 32, docked for impersonation

A 32-year-old man, Amadu Danjuma, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Court, over alleged impersonation of an Army officer.

The defendant, whose address was not given, pleaded not guilty to the one count of impersonation levelled against him by the Ondo State Amotekun Corps.

The prosecuting counsel, P.O. Nwafor told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometimes in April, in Akure.

 She said that Danjuma wore a military camouflage and paraded himself as a military officer, a representation which he knew to be false.

Nwafor said that the offences contravened Section 109 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

The Magistrate, T.I. Ayodele-James granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ayodele-James adjourned the case till July 9, for trial.
