A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Idanre has ordered the remand of a 34-year-old man, Babatunde Olajobi at the Olokuta Correctional Centre over alleged attempted murder and unlawful display of arm in public.
Olajobi popularly known as ‘Agbara’ who resides at Alade Idanre is facing six-count charge bordering on conspiracy , attempted murder and unlawful display of arms in public preferred against him by the police.
Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Ajiboye Obadasa told the court that Olajobi and one other at large, committed the offence at about 10:30pm on August 3, 2023 at Alade roundabout area, Alade Idanre, Ondo State.
Obadasa alleged that the accused, who disguised himself by covering part of his face with cap threatened and attempted to kill one Anthony John,53, with gun.
He said the suspect armed himself with a locally made single barrel gun and an unexpended catridge and caused terror in the area.
The accused who claimed to be a cultist was said to be forcefully obtaining money from traders in the area.
The offence, he said, contravenes Section 516, 86, 320, 332(2), 417(e) and 80 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the accused in correctional centre pending the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
Magistrate R.I. Adelakin ordered that the accused be remanded and adjourned the matter till September 9, 2023 for mention.
