Man, 36, docked over theft, burglary

A 36-year-old man has been dragged before a Chief Magistrate Court in Ondo town for stealing one  Toyota Camry with number plate  NND 491 AA valued at N1,730,000, property of one Jeromu Bademosi.

The police also arraigned the defendant for attempting to steal  another Toyota Camry vehicle with number plate  JJJ 50 A, valued at N1,500,000, property of one Idowu Oguntoye.

The defendant allegedly committed the offences between March 23 and 24, 2023 at about 6:05pm and 6:45pm at Lande Hotel area, Arigbabola lane, Ondo, in the Ondo Magisterial District.

The offences  contravene Section 383(2)(a) and punishable under sections 390(9) and 509.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Akao Moremi applied for a date to assemble the prosecution witnesses. While the defence counsel, Miss M.O Arowojolu, urged the court to grant her client bail in most liberal terms.

Magistrate Misunmola Ikujuni, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two credible sureties each in like sum.

She adjourned the case till May 8, 2023, for a hearing.
