Man, 37, docked for stealing diesel

A 37-year-old man, Emmanuel Godwin has been arraigned before an Odigbo Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing kegs of diesel.

The defendant was brought to the court on a count of stealing

According to the prosecution, Godwin  committed the offence on November 22, 2022 at Major Sawmill Ore, Ondo State.

The police prosecutor, James Usifo  told the court that the accused stole two 30 litre kegs of Diesel valued at about N244,500, property of one Aladesawe Sunday

The offence contravene section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

But the defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against him when the charge was read to him.

Usifo, however, prayed for an adjournment to enable him study the case file.

The defence counsel, Mr. V. A Akinfe did not oppose the prosecutor’s application. But he  prayed the court to grant the accused person bail in most liberal terms.

In his ruling, Senior Magistrate D. O Ogunfuyi admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Ogunfuyi, however, ordered the remand of the defendant at Okitipupa Correctional Centre pending the perfection of his bail.

He adjourned the case till December 16, 2022 for mention.
