An Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting at Oke-Eda, has ordered the remand of one Chukwuma Uzokah, 43, in Olokuta prison for allegedly killing a 27-year-old man with a gun.

Uzokah was alleged  to have shot the deceased, Peter Joseph, on his face with  gun which led to his death.

The accused person was brought before Magistrate Victoria Bob-Manuel, on two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.

The prosecution said the accused person committed the offence on May 11,2019 at about 17:40hrs along Agunla, road via Ogbese in Ondo State Magisterial District.

The alleged offence was said to be contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 324 and 319(1)of the criminal Code Cap 37, Vol.1 Laws of the Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The plea of the accused was not taken.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Adebayo Sulaiman, prayed the court to remand the defendant in prison custody pending the legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosection.

Lawyer for the accused, Mrs O.O. Adedire, did not oppose the oral application made by the prosecutor.

The presiding magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, held that it is a murder case which the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain.

Bob-Manuel ordered the remand of the defendant in Olokuta prison custody pending the legal advice from the DPP’s office.

She adjourned the case till July 1, 2019 for review.
