Man, 44, in prison over rape, threats

A 44-year-old man, Kolapo Oladimeji, has been remanded in prison by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court over rape and threat to life.
The accused person committed the offences on April 12, 2019 at Olojaroko area of Kosere in Ile-Ife.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Osanyintuyi, said that the accused person unlawfully and indecently assaulted a 19-year-old girl (names withheld) by having sexual intercourse with her beside his house, after threatening her.
The prosecutor said that the accused person intimidated the girl with the voice note on a Glo line number 07055914940 and threatened to kill her if she disclosed what transpired between them.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.
The offence contravened Sections 86 and 360 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsel, Mrs Funmi Adigun, who applied for bail in most liberal term, assured that her client would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mr Olukunle Owolawi, rejected the oral application for bail and asked the defence for a written application for the consideration of the bail.
Owolawi, therefore, ordered for the remand of the accused person in Ile-Ife prison, pending the consideration of his bail application.
The case was adjourned till May 27, 2019 for the bail consideration.
