Man, 45, docked for damaging car

A 45-year old man, Omotola Olalekan, has been arraigned before an Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for criminal insubordination.

The defendant was brought before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu on a one-count charge bordering on insubordination.

According to the prosecution, the offence was committed on April 7, 2025, at about 2:00 p.m., off Benin Garage, Ore, Ondo State.

The Prosecuting Inspector, Usifoh James, told the court that the defendant wilfully and maliciously damaged the gear bus of a Corolla car valued at N1,940,000, property of one Abass Amusa.

The offence, James said, contravenes Section 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The prosecutor prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and assemble witnesses.

Defence counsel, Mr M.E. Tiewe, did not oppose the application but urged the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms.

Ruling on the application, Chief Magistrate Akinlolu admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till May 6, 2025, for hearing.
