Man allegedly attacks woman with cutlass

A 27-year-old man ,Omolafe Omotehinse has been arraigned before  an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court  for unlawfully assaulting one Bose Sheile, by beating her with a cutlass.

The police prosecutor, Inspt. Ayodeji Omoyegha told the court that Omotehinse and four others at large conspired on April 3, 2019 at about 4:pm in Igboran  farm settlements via Ayeka, Okitipupa to commit the offence.

Omoyegha further explained to the court how the victim came to the police station to report the incident and how the defendant was arrested.

He said the offence was contrary to and punishable under section 351of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1laws of Ondo state of Nigeria 2006 .

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges.

In his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Mr. D. O Ogunfuyi, granted  bail to the defendant in the sum of N60,000 with one surety  in like sum .

He said the surety must be responsible, and show evidence of tax payment for the current year.

Consequently, he ruled that the accused be remanded in Okitipupa prison custody until his bail conditions were perfected.

The case was adjourned till May 22, 2019, for further hearing.
