Man arraigned for assault

A 20-year-old man, Taye Abiodun, has appeared before an Owo Magistrates’ Court for alleged assault.
Abiodun, was said to have unlawfully assaulted one Joseph Godwin, by beating him with cutlass and inflicted serious injuries on him.
The police prosecutor, Inspt. Herbert Erhayanmen, said the accused committed the offence on Feburary 19,2019 at about 4:00pm at Igbanasa street, Owo in the Owo Magistraterial District.
The prosecution said the offence contravened section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37. Volume I ,Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, while his lawyer, Mrs T. F Braimoh, pleaded with the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal term.
The prosecutor did not oppose Braimoh’s application for bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Sunday Adedapo, admitted the accused to bail in the lsum of N500,000 with one surety, whom he said must reside within the magisterial district.
The case was adjourned till March 3,2019 for definite hearing.
