Man arraigned in court over N600,000 job scam

A 47-year-old man, Adefemi Arogun has been arraigned before an Okitipupa Magistrate Court for obtaining the sum of N600,000 from one Ololade Ogbesami under false pretence to help in enlisting his daughter, Simisola Ogbesami into the Nigerian Air Force thereby alleged to have commited an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The police prosecutor, Inspt. Omoyegha Ayodeji told the court that Adefemi and others at large conspired on July 2017 at Ilutitun in Okitipupa to collect the said amount of money with the intention to help in enlisting the victims which they never did and never returned his money.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the two count charge.

In his ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, D. O Ogunfuyi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The two sureties must be responsible individuals who must show evidence of tax payment for the current year. He is to be remanded in Okitipupa prison custody until his bail conditions are perfected.

The case was adjourned till October 17, 2018 for further hearing.
