Man arraigned  over attempt to steal

A 27-year-old furniture maker, Lukuman Mukaila, has been dragged before an Ondo Chief Magistrates’ Court for attempt to  steal.

The defendant was arraigned before the court on one count of stealing at about 10am  in the Odosida area of  Ondo town.

The police Prosecutor, Inspector Bernard Olagbayi, told the court that the offence contravened Section 508 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The charge read, “That you Lukuman Mukaila on November 6, 2018 around 10am at Odosida area Ondo, in the Ondo Magisterial District, did attempt to commit felony to wit stealing and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 508 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Volume 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Benard, who told the court that he would be calling two witnesses to testify in the case, applied for a date to enable him study the case file.

Lawyer for the accused, Mr Mathew Peter, applied for the bail of his client in most liberal terms.

The presiding Magistrate, Mrs Bolatito Ajibade, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
