Man bags three years imprisonment for burglary, theft

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ore has sentenced a 26-year-old man, Victor Samson, to three years imprisonment for stealing bread and other items worth N679,000.

Chief Magistrate, O. A. Omofolarin, in her judgement, convicted Samson and sentenced him to three years imprisonment, following his guilty plea to the four counts bordering on stealing and bulgary.

According to the prosecutor, Inspector Martins Gbenga, the defendant who was not a first time offender,  broke into a varieties’ shop at Major Sawmill Junction, Ondo Road, Ore.

 He allegedly stole 30 packs of Coca-Cola drinks valued at N48,000, 20 packs of bottle water valued  at N14,000, 20 packs of Fanta valued at  N32,000, and one carton of Baron wine valued at N40,000.

Other items stolen were 50 pieces of Adeyemi bread valued at N30,000, 30 pieces of big Horbit bread  valued at N30,000, 1 stabilizer valued at N40,000, Ten bags of Hollandia Youghurt value N100,000, 10 pakcs of Chevita drinks value N85,000, one Iphone value N260,000 property of one Olabintan Funmilayo.

The offences contravene Sections 516, 412, 390(9), 411 of the Criminal Code Cap 37, Vol 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.

Martins, while admitting the defendant statement of guilt, said there is need to prove the case.

The Chief Magistrate ordered that each count should run concurrently with no option of fine.
