From Kayode Afolabi, Ore

A vile case of child assault has been uncovered in Ore, Ondo State, after the arrest of one Bolaji Oluwasetire, who was caught molesting a six-year-old girl.

According to the Ondo State Police Command, the suspect was caught in the act of forcing the little girl to touch his private parts on October 1, 2025, around 9:45 p.m., before her father, Kolawole Joseph, raised the alarm and rushed to the Ore Police Division to report the crime.

Detectives from the Gender Desk Office immediately stormed the Osoro area of Ore, where the predator was apprehended.

But in a desperate attempt to escape justice, the suspect admitted to swallowing herbicide and began vomiting in police custody.

He was rushed to the General Hospital, Ore, where he is receiving treatment under tight monitoring.

Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, condemned the act as both shameful and criminal, vowing that the suspect will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law once he recovers.

“Sexual predators will  have no hiding place in Ondo State. We will hunt them down, expose them, and bring them to justice,” CP Lawal warned.

He also emphasized that the command has zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, stressing that offenders will not escape justice no matter their tactics.

The victim is safe, and her family is receiving professional support to help her recover from the trauma.

Police urged community leaders, parents, and guardians to remain vigilant and report all cases of abuse, warning that Ondo State will never be a safe haven for sex offenders.
