Man charged with  stealing electronics

A 30-year-old man, Jacob Ayodele has been arraigned before an Ile-Ife Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing laptops and other electronics.

 According to the prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Abdullahi, the accused person committed the offence in May 2, 2020 around 12 a.m. at Isale-Agbara Street in Ile-ife.

 Abdullahi said the accused person stole two laptops, six speakers, one LG DVD player, a bag and one floor Rug, the value of which were yet unknown.

 He said the accused person could not give satisfactory account of how he got the items when he was caught by the police.

 The accused person who faced a two-count charge of stealing and illegal possession of items, pleaded not guilty.

The offence committed contravened sections 390(9) and 430 of the Criminal Law of Osun, 2002.

 The defence Counsel, Mr Ben Adirieje, prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal terms, promising that his client would not jump bail, but would provide reliable sureties.

The magistrate, Mrs Muhibah Olatunji, granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with one surety in like sum.

Olatunji said the surety must reside within the court’s  jurisdiction and must be a blood relation of the defendant.

 The case was adjourned till May 19, 2020 for mention.
