Man commits suicide with sniper in Benue

From Henry Iyorkase, Makurdi
A young man in his early thirties took his own life yesterday night in Benue State by ingesting sniper.
The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as Mr. Tartor Ayihe, a resident of Ayihe village in Makurdi, Benue State.
It was discovered that Ayihe had sold the same plot of land to three different individuals, which led to the unfortunate events.
An eyewitness reported that a meeting had been convened at around 6 p.m. on Wednesday to discuss the matter, involving the three buyers.
During the meeting, Ayihe requested permission to return to his home, but did not come back.
Sources indicated that he left the gathering with an excuse to fetch something from his house, allegedly visiting three different shops in search of sniper. Eventually, he succeeded in obtaining the pesticide.
Upon returning home, sources revealed, Ayihe switched off his phone and reportedly ingested the sniper, ultimately succumbing to the poison in his compound.
After waiting for an extended period, a community elder, whose name is withheld, sent people to his house. It was there that they discovered he had consumed the sniper, and he was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital.
Efforts to obtain confirmation from Benue Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sewuese Annene, were unsuccessful, as her mobile phone line remained unanswered despite several attempts.
