Man docked for impersonation, threat to life

A 51-year-old man, Ademola Hammed, has been arraigned before an Akure Magistrate Court, for allegedly parading himself as the Chairman of the State Tricycle Union.
The defendant was arraigned on two counts, bordering on breach of peace and threat to life.
The prosecutor, Inspector Wada Simon, told the court that Ademola, who committed the offence between February 23,2021 and December 1, 2023 at Isolo, Akure, also threatened to kill one Olawale Atabiakin.
According to the prosecutor, the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by parading himself as the Chairman of the union in the state despite government’s restrictions on all union activities till further notice.
Ademola was also alleged of threatening to kill one Olawale Atabiakin and anybody that came his way, by mobilizing his boys to attack the victim who narrowly escaped.
The offences contravene Sections 249(2) and 86(2) of the Criminal Code Law of Ondo State, 2006.
The prosecutor prayed for an adjournment to enable him gather his witnesses and study the case file.
The defence counsel, Kehinde Osadugba, urged the court to admit his client to bail on most liberal terms.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered the defendant and his supporters to cease from collecting fees from anyone, adding that they should maintain peace till the court determines the case.
The Magistrate adjourned the case till January 31, 2023, for hearing.
