Man docked for turning friend into punching bag

A 51-year-old man, Fadebi Adeoluwa, has been dragged before the Odigbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly turning his friend into a punching bag.
Adeoluwa was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu on one count bordering on assault.
According to the police, the incident occurred on April 7, 2025, at about 1:45 p.m., at No. 12-12 Street, Odigbo-Ore, Ondo State.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Usifoh James, told the court that the defendant assaulted one Mamukuyomi Akintunde by grabbing him by the clothes and raining punches all over his body.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Inspector James thereafter prayed the court to grant an adjournment to enable him study the case file and bring his witnesses.
The defence counsel, Mr S.E. Jemini, did not oppose the application but urged the court to admit the defendant to bail in the most liberal terms.
In his ruling, Chief Magistrate Akinlolu granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 16, 2025, for mention.
