Man docked over alleged stealing

A middled aged man, Olawole Adegboyega, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Oke-Eda for alleged stealing.

Olawole was arraigned on five counts before Magistrate F.A Aduroja.

The charges read in part: “That you, Adegboyega Olawole and others still at large, on or about 19th day of June, 2022, at Akure, a place within the criminal jurisdiction of this Court, did steal a 200 Watt Stabilizer (valued at N10:500.00), a set of spanner, smooth, hammer valued at about N250,000.00, LG DVD, 3KG Gas Cylinder (valued at N7,000.00), 24 Inches LG TV (valued at N50,000.00), property of Abu Blessing

The police prosecutor, Olusegun Akeredolu, old the court that the defendant, broke into the shop Obinna Anaezionwu, and stole three bags of bolts and nuts valued at about N1,000,000.00, property of Obinna Anaezionwu and a motor saw, a set of spanner, smooth, hammer valued at about N250,000.00, property of Matthew Ayodele.

Akeredolu said the offences were punishable under sections 390 (9), 519,

410 and 411 of Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The defendant counsel Prosper Odimejwe, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in most liberal terms.

He said the defendant would not jump bail, promising that he would provide credible and reliable surety.

Magistrate F.A Aduroja granted the defendant bail in the sum of 500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Aduroja held that the sureties must submit copies of their National Identification Numbers and must live in the court jurisdiction.

He adjourned the matter till September 29, 2022, for definitely hearing.
